Abstract
This study aimed to validate the Korean version of the Positivity Resonance Scale developed by Major, Le Nguyen, Lundberg, & Fredrickson(2018) based on Fredrickson¡¯s(2016) positivity resonance theory. We conducted an exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis using the data set of 335 undergraduate students. Results provided support for the one-factor structure of the Korean version of the Positivity Resonance Scale. The Korean version of the Positivity Resonance Scale was positively correlated with positive affect, mental health, social connectedness, interpersonal competence, and was negatively correlated with negative affect, depression, and loneliness, supporting good concurrent validity. Also, a hierarchical multiple regression analysis resulted in the incremental validity of the Korean version of the Positivity Resonance Scale, which suggests that the construct of positivity resonance is well discriminated from positive affect measures. Overall, these findings indicated that the Korean version of the Positivity Resonance Scale is a reliable and valid tool for measuring the concept of positivity resonance. This study ends with a discussion of the implications, limitations, and directions for future research.
